On Thursday, December 20th, 2018, in the festive hall of the Jewish community Belgrade the Pannonia string quartet has held a concert promoting their new album Klezmer music. The selection of the repertoire and the arrangement were created by the quartet frontman Roni Beracha, who also gave brief introductory remarks and announcements of the pieces, speaking of their history, the time and circumstances of their creation, the sites, and the cultures. The repertoire consisted of well-known works of the Klezmer music arranged for the string quartet by Roni Beracha.

About the Pannonia quartet


The String Quartet Pannonia is formed of renowned Zrenjanin (Republic of Serbia) musicians; Roman Bugar (violinist) - director of the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra, Marin Bugar (violinist) - member of the SNP Opera Orchestra (Serbian National Opera, Novi Sad), Aleksandar Stankov (violist) - director of SNP Opera, and Roni Beraha (cellist) – the president of the Banatartemuzika Association and author of the arrangements. The quartet members form the backbone of the Zrenjanin Chamber Orchestra and the Zrenjanin Philharmonic Orchestra. The quartet’s repertoire varies from contemporary Serbian composers to the arrangements of Argentine tango, Romanian music, and Klezmer music. The String Quartet Panonija performed at the Korzofest in Zrenjanin, Vojvodina Romanian Music Festival, in the National Museum in Kikinda, the National Museum in Zrenjanin, the Festival of String Quartets (KVART) in Zrenjanin, the Pancevo Cultural Center, the M Studio in Novi Sad, the Cultural Institute of Vojvodina, the Medieval Festival in Sibiu Romania, the embassies of Romania, Bulgaria and France in Belgrade, the National Library in Belgrade. Also, the quartet produced several recordings for Radio Television of Vojvodina as well as for RTS (Radio Televizija Srbije). This year, the Banat Arte Muzika Association, the promoter of the String Quartet Panonija, will launch the first album called “Klezmer music”. More on the Pannonia quartet >>>
